Open Houses Banned in Toronto, Ottawa, Peel and York

October 19, 2020

Currently, in-person open houses are prohibited in Ottawa, Peel, Toronto and York Region.

These prohibitions by the Ontario Government came into effect as of Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. in Ottawa, Peel and Toronto, and as of Monday, October 19, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. in York Region.

In-person property showings are permitted but by appointment only.

In-person open houses were banned in various parts of Ontario during the first wave of the pandemic, and then in July the prohibitions were lifted. With the increased number of Covid-19 cases, the prohibitions have been deemed necessary once again.

A ban on in-person open houses does not stop a buyer or seller from achieving their goal of buying or selling a home. By working with a Real Estate Sales Representative appointments for buyers to view homes can be made in a safe and effective way.
