Statistical Highlights – May 2020

May 7, 2020

It’s no surprise that there were less buyers and less sellers in the market in April. The big story here is that the average home price remained relatively flat compared to April of 2019. But the story is not that simple. Average home prices for detached homes were -3.5%; for semi-detached +7.0%, for townhomes +3.8% and for condo apartments -1.7%. Remember, the data that is relevant to any given home type and neighbourhood is unique to that home. Also, just because average home prices did not change drastically yet, in response to the pandemic and the recession, that doesn’t mean that they won’t.
